Art at the Market has finally arrived! Check out all the variety of art available, and be sure to take some home with you! So far, it is an open stage this week so if you are interested in testing out your musical chops bring whatever instrument you play down. Next weekend is the “Weirdest Vegetable Competition”, where we try to figure out who has grown the weirdest looking vegetable [or fruit], over the past two weeks. Just think of all those carrots with two or three “legs” – they almost remind me of a wisdom tooth after it has been removed. I know, gross analogy.

Our musical guest of the week is Sparky Boal, who starts performing at 10:30 AM. With only two weeks left in August, the Market is going ahead full steam, right into October. Next week "Art at hte Market" is taking place, wiht artists from the NOrth Cariboo being invited to take part in the Farmers' Market. This week, look for the musical style of Mike Webb for entertainment. And, we will have the results from last weeks “Name that Weed” competition posted at the BC Farmers’ Market Association tent. Come see if you won! In two weeks, “Art at the Market” will take over the usual festivities at the market. Well, perhaps “take-over” is a poor choice of words. But, the market will be infused with artistic talents from around the Quesnel, and all of the North Cariboo. We are looking for local artists who wish to partake in this event, and have their work showcased during the Farmers’ Market. Also, we do not have an entertainer lined up yet for the August 23rd date. If you know anyone who would be interested in performing, please stop by, and let me know! Lastly, FARMED is looking for food donations to make their “Spotlight on Agriculture” event a success. For more information on this – and the event with Corky Evans itself, come and visit at the
BC Farmers’ Market Association tent.

A HUGE thank-you to everyone who came out tolast Markets' "Flavours of Quesnel", it was a huge success. Speaking of big events, just as "Flavours of Quesnel" fades into memory, "Art at the Market" is coming up on the horizon. ON August 23rd, local artists are invited to bring their art TO the market, and display their work. Not to fear the rain, there will be protected space available if it looks cloudy. Coming up a little sooner is the FARMED "Spotlight on Agriculture" reception, with special guest Corkey Evans, MLA for Nelson-Creston. This gala is in support of the Farm Fresh Food Guide, which will highlight all the agro-businesses in the North Cariboo area. For this August 3rd Farmers' Market, we feature the musical styling of Mike Webb, and more in-seasons fruits from our local vendors!

Flavours of Quesnel has finally arrived! This weekend, food vendors at the Market will be giving out samples ranging from a hand-ful of cherries or blueberries, to bbq'd lamb, and the basic bread-and-honey. All fresh, and all home made. As they say, things cannot get much better. Be on the listen for our radio spots on "The Wolf", and articles in "The Observer" and "The Advisor". Our feature entertainment during Flavours is courtesy of JR Goodwin & Friends.

The Billy Barker Days edition of the Farmers' Market promises fun for all. There will be face painting available for the kids, an open stage for entertainment, and a prime location between the fun of the midway, and the morning parade.
The Market recently began a program to give any left-over produce to the Salvation Army soup kitchen, as it would otherwise go to waste. The Harvest Society, which runs the Farmers' Market was delighted to contribute to the community in such a meaningful way. If you wish to contribute to the Salvation Army, please drop off any left-over perishables at the Farmers' Market tent.
Lastly, the BC Association of Farmers' Markets has recently updated their listings, and the Quesnel Farmers' Market is one of hte first five new listings up! Check us out at http://www.bcfarmersmarket.org/findamarket.asp.
